The Illustrator
Hello. My name is Rose.
I write young adult fiction and make things pretty.
I love: using my paintings as photo backdrops, illustrating books, the feeling of possibility one can only get early in the morning standing on a balcony, haberdashery, perfect pancakes, and dusk. I was: born in September, a wallflower, have skinny flat feet, only recently became flexible enough to touch my toes, and can fix almost anything with tape (ask my 5-yr old son).
I live: in an 8-story concrete building painted pink and cream, in Turkey, across from a park, in a neighborhood of roses.

I am a sparker of dialogues. Conversation junkie. Writing a YA futuristic novel with a disguise-wearing alias-using protagonist. Mother to two. Originally from Wisconsin (Go Badgers! – mini-disclaimer: I can’t live without my Badger hoodie, though I never went to a Badger game), I hold an MFA in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art (2004), and a BS in Art from the University of Wisconsin (2001).
